Let’s Dive Deeper Into How You Can Lose Weight Now
So first off we have drinking more water. I’ll tell you I actually knew a guy who would chug 3 12oz glasses of water before and after each meal! Now that is taking it to the extreme, and I would not actually suggest that to anyone, as you will probably cramp up, or at the very least have to go to the bathroom more than you should. I suggest, finishing one glass of water before you meal, one during, and then half a glass at the end. The logic and science behind this is that water will fill up your stomach a bit, giving the sensation of being more full. Also as you and I both know, water is AMAZING for you body in so many ways. And a lot of times we may think we are hungry, and really we are just thirsty.
Next up take smaller bites when you eat. Why? It allows the body to do what it does best more effectively, which is to metabolize and break down the food it takes in. By taking these gigantic bites which so many of us do, we usually do not chew them very well, and end up swallow rather large chunks of food, making it harder for our bodies to work, and making the efficiency of metabolized food lower than what it could and should be. Hence, even if you ate less food, you could still be doing your body a disservice because your body can’t break down the food properly, and so it sticks to you more than it should, rather than being turned into energy like it should.
Eating slower helps to lose weight in much the same way as taking smaller bites does. Or better put, they go hand in hand when it comes to the topic of how to lose weight. That’s because by eating slower, we can chew more effectively, we can take smaller bites, and we can then digest our food more effectively. By doing that we are making the body more effective at metabolizing the food it takes in, allowing us to lose weight.
Having more variety at meal time allows the palate, the mind, and in the end the body to feel deeper satisfaction, therefore allowing us to feel full or more satisfied, even if we eat a little less than usual. Also when thinking of variety, you want balance. A well balanced meal is still the gold standard when it comes to losing weight, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and fueling the body for optimal performance.
Finally, we want to cap this blog off, and our meals, with something sweet. The reason we want to eat something sweet at the end of our meals is because we have trained our bodies and minds to KNOW that when we have dessert, we are DONE EATING. So something small, obviously, and not too crazy, such as a couple pieces of dark chocolate, or for others a small bowl of strawberries or an orange, allows to remind the body, that we ARE FULL!
