Hello, I want to start an online business. I do not have a lot of inventory, so before I jump into opening a store, I want to start by drop shipping. I am confused about how drop shipping works. How do I know how much to charge in shipping if my products will be from different vendors and different weights. Does Shopify do this automatically for me? And what if my vendor has an item that is on back order? The store I want to launch is Home Accents. Please let me know how I can get this started.

Any platform as popular as Shopify will inevitably have sub-standard apps making it to the marketplace, but I would advise looking at the top charts and most highly rated apps to see if there is something that could help you out.
I am only going to start out with less than 5 colors of the same product. But it will be a personalized product. Will Shopify be able to set up that for me. For customers to upload a photograph? I want my online store to be a more social media content sharing their product that I am selling. Will the basic plan work for me? Or should I shoot for a customized plan?

Pinterest, for instance, has Buyable Pins that enable merchants to sell products featured on their Pinterest page. According to the site, “Buyable Pins have a blue price tag, which tells people your product is in stock and available for purchase. People can easily spot these Pins all over Pinterest—in search results, in related Pins and on your business profile.”

Musopen is another free site that, like Public Domain 4U, provides music that has the copyright expired. On the site’s about page they say, “We provide recordings, sheet music, and textbooks to the public for free, without copyright restrictions.” At Musopen you can browse music by composer, performer, instrument, period or form. Musopen is great, especially if you are looking for classical music for your video.


There is much more for me to learn on Shopify, and I am not looking at the best apps to use to help increase my business, such as abandoned cart recovery, reviews, etc. Anyhow, I have sold about $2500 in products on Shopify since February, and my Etsy store is going strong with many more sales. However, considering that I have to attract traffic to my Shopify site on my own, I am thrilled. Customer service and help at Shopify is excellent. They have lots of educational tools, plus their blog is a wealth of information for ecommerce stores.
